What kind of heating system do you have?

Whether you’re calling about heating system installation, replacement or maintenance, it’s important for us to know what kind of system you have so we can send the right specialist with the right parts and equipment to complete your repair efficiently.

These are the most common heating systems on Vancouver homes:

Furnace system

Furnaces

Furnaces blow warm air through your home’s ductwork. Look for the vents which are typically located on floors, walls or ceiling. If you feel warm air coming up through the vents, you have a furnace heating your home.

In-floor Radiant Heating System Radiator System

Boilers

Boilers force heated water through pipes that run throughout your home. If you have in-floor heating, these heated pipes run across the floors of your home – you will feel the heat underfoot as you walk across the room.

Alternatively, the heat from the pipes may be distributed through a baseboard heater or heat register, which will be above the floor and at the bottom of a wall. Older homes may also have rooms heated by large cast iron radiators sitting against the walls.

Heat Pump System

Heat Pumps

A heat pump is a modern, energy-saving supplement to your home’s furnace. While the furnace is indoors, the heat pump is a fairly large unit placed outside your home to help heat your home in winter and cool your home in the summer. Heat pumps use the same ductwork as your furnace system to blow either warm or cool air throughout your home.

This heating system is easy to identify as it is a fairly large appliance that will be located along the outside of you home.

Electrical Baseboard heating system

Electric Baseboard Heaters

Electric baseboard heaters are the most common heating system in Vancouver’s new condos. Baseboard heaters are usually installed under windows, so that the heater’s rising warm air will counteract falling cool air from the cold window glass. Typically, you will find one unit per room allowing you to control the heat room-by-room. Unfortunately, Milani does not service electric baseboard heaters.

Installation and Replacement

Sometimes repairing an aging heating system is not cost-effective: between energy savings and incentive programs that help offset the cost of a new system, you may find it makes more financial sense to replace an obsolete heating system instead of continuing to repair and maintain it. Should you decide to replace your heating system, rely on our experience in heating services – Vancouver homeowners trust Milani to install modern high-efficiency heating systems that will save them energy and money. Have one of our professional heating installation specialists perform precise calculations and make sure you have just the right type and size of heater to maintain comfortable heat in your home during winter.
