Ion-exchange water softener
HALO CK10 Softener
The HALO CK10 is a straightforward, well-built ion-exchange softener for homes with genuinely hard water. It removes hardness completely, protects pipes, fixtures and the water heater from scale, and comes in four tank sizes so it can be matched to household size and water hardness.
How ion exchange works
Water passes through a bed of resin beads that hold sodium or potassium ions. Calcium and magnesium — the minerals that make water hard — are attracted to the resin and swap places with the sodium or potassium. When the resin fills up, the control valve runs a regeneration: a brine draw from the salt tank flushes the hardness minerals to the drain and recharges the resin.
The CK10 valve is metered, so it regenerates based on how much water you have actually used rather than on a fixed timer — which saves salt and water.

Sizing and upkeep
Milani sizes the CK10 to your hardness (from a water test) and your peak flow, so it softens fully without regenerating too often. Upkeep is keeping the salt tank topped up; the resin itself lasts many years.
