HALO Hybrid
The HALO Hybrid puts filtration and softening in the same tank. A mid-plate separates a top layer of HALO High Activity Carbon from a bed of ion-exchange softening resin below, so one cabinet does the work of a filter and a softener.
One tank, two processes
Water first passes through the carbon layer, which removes chlorine, contaminants, odours and taste issues by adsorption — and, importantly, protects the softening resin underneath from chlorine damage. It then flows through the resin, where calcium and magnesium are exchanged for sodium or potassium. When the resin is saturated the system regenerates itself automatically.
Why a hybrid
It takes up the space of one tank instead of two, the carbon extends resin life, and you get genuinely soft water plus filtered water from a single system. It does use salt and a drain connection for regeneration, so Milani confirms there is a drain and a spot for the brine tank.
